Premium Royal Mint coin set with five Sovereigns representing the different branch mints that struck these gold coins during the reign of King Edward VII. Edward succeeded his mother, Queen Victoria, in 1901 and ruled until his own passing in 1910, encompassing a period we call the Edwardian era. During this time, four international Royal Mint outposts were in operation, in addition to the London branch, producing coinage for use across the British Empire. This set includes gold 'full' Sovereigns struck at Sydney, Melbourne and Perth (the three Australian branches) as well as a coin struck in Ottawa, Canada, established in 1908. These 22-carat gold coins can be identified by a tiny mintmark below the instantly recognisable image of St George on the reverse, the work of Benedetto Pistrucci. The London mint coin shows no mintmark. The obverse of each of these pieces - each graded 'Very Fine' or better - shows George William de Saulles' portrait of King Edward VII, used on all of this monarch's UK currency. The dates of these coins may vary by set but all were originally struck for circulation between 1901 and 1910. This pre-owned set is one of just 256 of this kind assembled by The Royal Mint. It comes in a bespoke wooden display box, lined in a deep green. The coins themselves are presented in individual screw-top capsules. A numbered certificate of authenticity is included, together with a detailed information booklet.
