Buy a 2025 Quarter Sovereign

The final rose-gold Quarter Sovereign. Quarter Sovereigns, introduced in 2009, have always been struck in a red-toned 22-carat gold, as this has been the standard alloy used across The Royal Mint's flagship Sovereign range for the last two decades. This 2025 Quarter Sovereign is the last of its kind since, from 2026, a new yellow-coloured gold will be used for all Sovereigns. These tiny, 1.99-gram coins feature the classic Saint George and the dragon motif, scaled for the 13.50-millimetre surface and paired with Martin Jennings' definitive coin portrait of King Charles III. Quarter Sovereigns are already highly collectable, and as the last of the rose gold Sovereigns, these 2025 bullion coins have a special appeal.

Last Rose Gold Sovereigns

The Royal Mint confirmed that the 2025 Sovereign range would be the last to be struck in rose gold. From 2026 onwards, Sovereigns will be made from a yellow-coloured alloy, reminiscent of historic Victorian coins.

Saint George And The Dragon

In keeping with tradition, these 2025 coins feature the instantly recognisable image of Saint George, slaying a dragon on their reverse: a motif designed by Italian artist Benedetto Pistrucci in the early years of the 19th century.

King Charles III Portrait

Martin Jennings' uncrowned left-facing definitive coinage portrait of King Charles III is shown on the obverse of 2025 gold bullion Quarter Sovereigns, with an inscription that reads 'CHARLES III · DEI · GRA · REX · FID · DEF ·'.

Quarter Sovereign Specifications

Quarter Sovereigns are made from 1.99 grams of 91.67% fine (22-carat) gold and measure 13.50 millimetres from milled edge to milled edge. This edition is struck to The Royal Mint's bullion standard for a uniform shiny finish.

Royal Mint Bullion Collectable

These pre-owned coins are highly collectable as some of the last rose-gold Sovereigns and as a key addition to any Quarter Sovereign collection. These smaller pieces are issued in limited numbers, making them highly sought after.
