Brilliant uncirculated Quarter Sovereign from The Royal Mint. At the time of writing, brilliant uncirculated Quarter Sovereigns had only been issued two time; in 2012 and 2013. These coins are struck twice to achieve a sharper and more defined finish than bullion or circulation coins. The Quarter Sovereign was introduced by The Royal Mint in 2009 and has been issued annually every year since. On this 2013 BU issue, Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse. This is paired with the image of Saint George and the dragon, instatnely-recognisable, even on the tiny 13.50 millimetre surface. Quarter Sovereigns are struck in 1.99 grams of 22-carat gold and offer a quarter of the gold content of a 'full' Sovereign. This scarce 2013 coin is offered in the original Royal Mint presentation box with a certificate of authenticity and an information booklet enclosed.

A Brilliant Uncirculated Quarter Sovereign

Quarter Sovereigns are struck in 1.99 grams of 22-carat gold. This 2013 coin features a brilliant uncirculated finish, which was only used on Quarter Sovereigns in 2012 and 2013, making this an unusual piece.

How Many Quarter Sovereigns Were Minted In 2013?

The maximum coin mintage set for 2013 Quarter Sovereigns was 10,000, but published mintage figures indicate that only 1,729 of these coins were actually issued by The Royal Mint. Gold proof 2013 Quarter Sovereigns were also struck in limited numbers.
