A rare opportunity to own a pre-owned 22 carat gold Quarter Sovereign in blister card. This highly collectable coin with a one-off design has a limited edition presentation of just 137. In 2012 Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. A range of Diamond Jubilee souvenirs were sold but coins in The Royal Mint’s 2012 Sovereign range are no doubt the most prestigious mementoes of the occasion. The 60th anniversary of her accession was marked with a new, one-year-only Sovereign engraving from The Royal Mint, reinterpreting the classic Saint George and the Dragon motif, designed by Benedetto Pistrucci for the first modern Sovereigns. It’s the work of British sculptor Paul Day, who was widely praised for his modern take on the timeless artistic piece. It fills the entirety of the reverse field, the date squeezed underneath the dragon. This is paired with Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of the Queen, in use on British money between 1998 and 2015 and the fourth definitive coin effigy of the monarch. This gold bullion Half Sovereign is composed of 1.99 grams of 22 carat gold, giving it a pure gold content of 0.0588 troy ounces. It measures 13.50 millimetres in diameter and is struck to the Mint's bullion standard. Their gold content and their status as UK Pound Sterling coins confers two important tax benefits on Half Sovereigns: VAT and capital gains tax exemption. We'll supply your 2012 Diamond Jubilee Quater Sovereign in the original presentation card, securely packaged in discrete labelling. Price includes free UK delivery.
