Buy a 2020 BU Five Sovereign

Collectable 2020 BU gold Five Sovereign from The Royal Mint with a special George III cypher privy mark. 2020 marked 200 years since the passing of King George III, one of Britain's longest-reigning and most influential monarchs. It was during George's reign that the first modern gold Sovereigns were struck, and the tiny mintmark on the reverse of this Quintuple Sovereign is a tribute to the King. The 'GR' mark can be seen to the right of the date, just below the image of Saint George and the dragon on the reverse of this 39.94-gram 22-carat gold coin. The Royal Mint issued just 350 of these brilliant uncirculated Quintuple Sovereigns in 2020, making this one of the lowest mintage gold £5s ever issued. Supplied in the original box with a numbered certificate, this scarce coin is a key addition to any serious collection of modern British gold coins.

George III Cypher Reverse

The reverse displays Benedetto Pistrucci's classic Saint George and the dragon design, with the date (2020) below, and a tiny 'GR' cypher mintmark to the right, marking the 200th anniversary of King George III's death.

Jody Clark's Royal Portrait

The obverse of this 2020 collector's coin features Jody Clark's fifth and final definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, as well as a legend that reads 'ELIZABETH II · DEI · GRA · REGINA · FID · DEF ·'.

22-Carat Gold BU £5 Coin

This Quintuple Sovereign is struck with an unusual matt brilliant uncirculated finish, a hallmark of this coin series. Denominated at £5, this coin from The Royal Mint is struck in 39.94 grams of solid 22-carat gold and measures 36.02 millimetres from milled edge to milled edge.

2020 Five Sovereign Mintage

This BU gold £5 is from a limited edition presentation of just 350 coins, making this one of the scarcest releases in the Quintuple Sovereign series. Proof editions were also struck in 2020 for inclusion in gold proof Sovereign sets.

Boxed With Numbered COA
