Buy a 2026 William IV Crown 5oz Silver Proof

Limited edition five-ounce silver proof 2026 William IV Crown coin from The Royal Mint's celebrated Great Engravers series. This exclusive collection is a tribute to the greatest designs featured on British coinage down the centuries and features remastered editions of rare and sought-after historic collector's pieces. This 2026 release is dedicated to the 1831 Crown of King William IV which never entered circulation and has remained an elusive addition to all but the most serious Crown collector's cabinet. Jean Baptiste Merlen's highly detailed reverse has been meticulously recreated for this 999 silver proof coin, capturing his shield of Royal Arms, draped with a luxurious ermine mantle. The Royal Mint has only authorised the release of 350 of these 5oz coins and we think they offer a stunning canvas for this elegant 19th century engraving.

William IV 1831 Crowns

Much admired by enthusiasts of historic British coins, the 1831 King William IV Crown combines notable rarity with a distinguished reverse by Jean Baptiste Merlen, now reinterpreted for the popular Great Engravers range.

Reverse: Mantled Shield

The 1831 Crown features a crowned shield of the Royal Arms, encircled by a garter and draped in an ermine mantle. On this 2026 issue, the design is paired with the inscription 'INSIGNIA GULIELMI IV BRITANNIAE REGIS'.

Obverse: King Charles III

The obverse presents the first definitive coin portrait of King Charles III by sculptor Martin Jennings, shown uncrowned. The legend in abbreviated Latin reads 'CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 10 POUNDS · 2026 ·'.
