The final currency issue King George IV silver Crown, struck in 1822 with the TERTIO regnal year to the edge.

George IV became King in 1820 and reigned until 1830. During his short time on the throne, Crowns were only issued for circulation in 1821 and 1822, in addition to various rare pattern coins. The currency coins feature the regnal year to the edge with this issue reading 'DECUS ET TUTAMEN. ANNO REGNI SECUNDO.'

  • Reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci's classic St George reverse with 'B.P.' initials below
  • Obverse shows a laureate portrait, 'GEORGIUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D:' around
  • Low annual mintage of 124,929 - no further Crowns issued for circulation until the reign of Queen Victoria
