Buy a 2021 Music Legends The Who One Ounce Coloured Silver Proof Coin

Limited edition silver proof The Who collectible: one of just 8,010 issued. This coin is part of the fourth collection in The Royal Mint’s Music Legends series, celebrating the British artist that have dominated and transformed the world of popular music. When Queen headlined the initial Music Legends collection, it represented the first time that a band had been memorialised on UK coinage. The Royal Mint kept up a steady beat of releases through 2020, adding collections celebrating Elton John and David Bowie to the popular series. 2021 saw the introduction of range celebrating English rock band, The Who. Formed in the early 60s, The Who have now sold more than 100 million records worldwide in a career spanning six decades. They’re known for singles like My Generation and Baba O’Riley, pioneering rock operas like Tommy and Quadrophenia, paired with an electric stage presence that shaped punk, metal, power pop and progressive rock. Their instantly recognisable bullseye logo features on the reverse of this coin in a design crafted by Henry Gray alongside a Rickenbacker guitar with a Union Jack motif and a pair of pinball machine flippers, a ball speeding down the neck. On this edition the logo and flag are picked out in red white and blue with colour printing. The edge also has a special feature: the inscription ‘Pinball Wizard’, not found on other coins in this series. This £2 coin is struck in 31.21 grams of 999 fine silver with a proof finish. It's offered in its original presentation packaging from The Royal Mint with a numbered certificate of authenticity enclosed.
