NGC graded PF 70 Ultra Cameo by NGC, this 1982 gold proof Quintuple Sovereign is a key addition to any serious coin collection. Struck by The Royal Mint exclusively for inclusion in 1982 gold proof 4-coin Sovereign sets, this impressive £5 coin is one of just 2,500 pieces authorised for issue. Composed of 39.94 grams of 22-carat gold (with 36.61g of fine gold), the 1982 Five Sovereign was among the largest UK gold coins of its era. The obverse bears Arnold Machin's refined second definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse shows the timeless Saint George and the dragon scene created by Benedetto Pistrucci for the first modern Sovereigns in 1817. This particular example has been independently certified by NGC and makes an excellent addition to any serious modern Sovereign collection.
