Buy a 1998 BU Five Sovereign

Highly collectable 1998 brilliant uncirculated gold Five Sovereign from The Royal Mint. This Quintuple Sovereign was the first to use Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was introduced to British currency in this year. The dignified effigy is seen to full effect on this large gold coin, which is struck in 39.94 grams of 22-carat gold. The reverse displays the instantly recognisable image of Saint George, slaying a dragon: a motif developed in the early 19th century by Italian artist Benedetto Pistrucci. A small 'U' mintmark to the left of the date identifies this as one of just 825 BU gold £5 coins issued by The Royal Mint in 1998. This pre-owned example is supplied in the original case with a numbered certificate.
