Buy a 1992 Proof Half Sovereign

Limited edition gold proof Half Sovereign coin from the UK's national mint. These official Royal Mint collectables have a history that stretches back to the time of King George III. The first modern Sovereigns and Half Sovereigns were struck during his reign, beginning a close association with the British monarchy. Two hundred years later, these 22-carat gold coins remain redolent with royal history. This 1992 Half Sovereign features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to the obverse, portrayed by eminent sculptor Raphael Maklouf. The obverse shows a classic coinage design, created in 1817 by Benedetto Pistrucci. This classic St George and the dragon motif has been a perennial presence on these 3.99 gram coins ever since. The specification of these pieces has remained the same down the centuries with each offering 0.1177 troy ounces of pure gold. This 1992 edition features a fine, proof finish, achieved with multiple strikes of hand-prepared dies for a high-contrast, high-shine appearance. We'll supply this pre-owned coin in its original leather display case from The Royal Mint with a numbered certificate of authenticity enclosed. Just 3,783 of these proof Half Sovereigns were issued in this individual presentation in 1992 making this a rare and sought-after piece.
