Buy a 1906-P Sovereign

Collectable Perth Mint 1906 gold Sovereigns issued during the reign of King Edward VII. Perth was the third Australian branch of the Royal Mint to be established, following Sydney and Melbourne. This colonial branch mint produced Sovereigns between 1899 and 1931. Edward came to the throne in 1901 following the death of his mother, Queen Victoria. This 1906-dated coin features a distinctive uncrowned portrait, created by George William de Saulles. De Saulles passed away in 1903, but his portrait of Edward VII was used on British coinage right up until the King's death in 1910. On the obverse is Benedetto Pistrucci's timeless Saint George and the dragon design. You'll notice the Perth 'P' mintmark on the ground beneath the cowering dragon, crushed beneath the hooves of a horse ridden by England's patron saint. This instantly recognisable design was crafted for the first modern Sovereigns issued in 1817. These 7.98 gram 22-carat gold coins were issued for circulation and will show signs of wear and handling. The images displayed on this page are stock photos and represent the type of Sovereign you will receive. Annual mintage: 3,657,853. References: S 3972, Marsh 190.
