Seven-coin King George V Sovereign mintmark set, assembled by The Royal Mint. George's reign (1910 to 1936) represents the high-water mark for international branch mints. There were seven outposts of the Royal Mint operational during his time on the throne, including the main branch in London, and this set contains gold Sovereigns from each mint, identifiable by tiny letter mint marks found on the reverse, above the date. 'S' for Sydney (produced Sovereigns between 1855 and 1926), 'M' for Melbourne (1872-1931), 'P' for Perth (1899-1931), 'C' for Ottawa, Canada (1908-1919), 'I' for Bombay, India (1918) and 'SA' for Pretoria, South Africa (1923-1932). Sovereigns minted in London feature no mintmark. Originally struck for circulation, these seven coins are all composed of 7.98 grams each of 22-carat gold. The obverses all feature Australian-born sculptor Bertram Mackennal's portrait of George V while the reverses show the classic St George and the dragon design, created by Benedetto Pistrucci. These assembled sets contain mixed-date King George V Sovereigns in 'Very Fine' grade or better. The coins are each sealed in screw-top capsules inside a premium wooden presentation case with gold lettering to the lid. A numbered certificate of authenticity is enclosed, confirming that this pre-owned set is one of just 958 of this type offered by The Royal Mint. An instant collection and a perfect gift.
