The Royal Mint issued another Pride of Wales Silver £20 Coin in 2017, which has the same design as the 2016 coin. The inspiration for this UK coin was the nation of Wales - the Royal Mint has been based there since 1968 and these coins were struck to pay tribute to the nation which hosts it. On the reverse, the enduring symbol of Wales, the dragon, is beautifully depicted. It was designed by sculptor Norman Sillman, and first appeared on the 1995 £1 coin. On the outer rim of the reverse, you'll see one hundred dots, representing 100 Pence, highlighting it's original use on the One Pound coin. On the 'heads' side of the coin, the official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is shown, which was designed by artist Jody Clark. This is the fifth official portrait of the Queen, which appeared on British coinage in 2015. This limited edition issue of the Welsh Dragon £20 is encased in exclusive packaging which was only available from the Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant. Specifications of the coin are a fine silver weight of 0.5045 troy ounces (15.69 grams) and a diameter of 27.00 millimetres. To appeal to coin collectors, both sides of the coin are struck twice in 0.999 fine silver to give it a brilliant uncirculated finish. A great gift idea for the Welsh person in your life, with free UK delivery when you buy from the Britannia Coin Company.
