Commemorative UK Five Pound for WW1's Battle of the Somme - part of The Royal Mint's World War One series. This edition marks 100 years since the harrowing events of the 'big push' that was the Somme offensive. Experienced coin designer John Bergdahl presents British troops pushing over trenches supported by a 'male' spec Mark I heavy tank - the first British tank to see combat. The profound reverse is joined by an obverse bearing Elizabeth II as definitively designed by Jody Clark. This Battle of the Somme centenary Crown is struck to the Mint's highest proof quality using 28.28 grams of .925 sterling silver. Comparable to other commemorative Crowns, this pre-owned WW1 coin has a diameter of 38.61 millimetres and a face value of Five Pounds Sterling. One in a highly limited presentation of only 4,000 and complete with original Royal Mint display packaging and certificate of authenticity. Remembrance in its most lasting and shining form.
