Royal Mint .925 silver proof 2016 Two Pound in celebration of William Shakespeare's tragic writings. Part of the Mint's official three-coin set commemorating Shakespeare, this £2 represents the great bard's tragedies. Reverse designer John Bergdahl presents a rose and skull symbolising the ill-fated love underlining works such as Romeo and Juliet or Othello. A ring plated in fine gold surrounds the design, retaining the bimetallic appearance of UK £2 coins. This 2016 Shakespeare coin features Elizabeth II, who visited Shakespeare's birthplace regularly, on the obverse side in Jody Clark's portrait. Included also is a unique edge inscription quoting from a Prince Hamlet monologue. Struck in 12.00 grams of .925 sterling silver and complete with fine gold plating on the outer ring, this Shakespeare Two Pound has a diameter of 28.40 millimetres. We include the original presentation case, certificate, and box with your pre-owned £2 - one in an issue limit of only 5,000.
