25th anniversary 1oz silver proof Britannia coin from The Royal Mint. This collector's piece marks twenty-five years since the first Britannia bullion coins were issued in 1987. These coins take their name from Britannia, the female personification of the United Kingdom and a perennial presence on our coinage since as far back as Roman times. While the series is known for the many and varied depictions of Britannia, this anniversary issue features the most famous and recognisable reverse, created by sculptor Philip Nathan and showing Britannia standing against the wind, with a shield, trident and olive branch. This pre-owned 2012 coin is one of the final Britannias to be made of 958 (95.8% fine) Britannia silver and is supplied in the original presentation case with a certificate of authenticity.
