UKVESPBC 2001 Queen Victoria 100th Anniversary £5 Crown Silver Proof Boxed

Buy a 2001 Queen Victoria Anniversary Five Pound Crown Silver Proof Coin

This commemorative Crown was struck to mark 100 years since the death of Queen Victoria. Born in 1819, Victoria came to the throne in 1837 and ruled until 1901. Her reign was marked by a period of industrial, scientific, political and societal change within the United Kingdom which became known as the Victoria Era. The design of this Five Pound coin was inspired by the Great Exhibition of 1851. It was designed by Mary Milner-Dickens. Detail of the decorative iron frame of the Crystal Palace, built to house the Exhibition, is divided by a ‘V’ which contains a youthful portrait of Victoria and the centenary dates: ‘1901 · 2001’. This is paired with Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Victoria’s great-great-grandaughter, Queen Elizabeth II, as used on British coinage between 1998 and 2015. Struck to flawless proof standard, this coin is composed of 28.28 grams of .925 sterling silver and has a diameter of 38.61 millimetres. It’s offered in its original packaging from The Royal Mint with a numbered certificate of authenticity which confirms that this coin is from a limited issue of 19,216.
