Collectable British 1893 silver Threepence, struck with Joseph Edgar Boehm's controversial Jubilee Head portrait of Queen Victoria.

Introduced in 1887 - Victoria's Golden Jubilee year - Boehm's portrait proved unpopular and was removed from currency after less than a decade. The Jubilee Head and the new Widowed Head were both used on 3d coins in 1893, both paired with the classic crowned three reverse.

  • In 1893, 3,067,293 Threepence coins were struck for circulation by the Royal Mint in .925 silver
  • This figure also includes Old Head 1893 Threepences - Jubilee Head 3ds are the rarer type
