The monkey, ninth of the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals, is represented on this One Ounce silver proof coin from The Royal Mint's Shēngxiào collection. Those born in the monkey's year are purported to be sociable and witty, with suspicious tendencies. Adorning the foliage-filled reverse, designed by London artist Wuon-Gean Ho, is a cheeky pair of 'Old World' Rhesus monkeys known for their family-like troops. Meanwhile, hanging on the obverse side of this silver UK coin is Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. The Mint used fine .999 silver to strike this 38.61 millimetre coin, which has a denominated value of Two Pounds Sterling. This lunar monkey coin, which has a gross weight of 31.21 grams, is complete with a very collectable proof finish. Included with your pre-owned 2016 Chinese New Year coin is the original box and display case complete with numbered certificate of authenticity: one of 5,888 in this presentation.
