1987 UK Premium Proof Annual 7 Coin Set

1987 UK Annual Set Proof Premium Boxed
The year 1987 began with heavy snowfall, saw Ronald Reagan’s famous speech at the Berlin Wall, and the first IKEA store opened in the UK. Look back at this year with The Royal Mint’s 1987 annual set of seven circulating coins struck to proof standard which collectively represent the four home nations. It includes a One Pound (with Northern Irish design), Fifty Pence (with Britannia), Twenty Pence (with English rose), Ten Pence (with English lion), Five Pence (with Scottish thistle), Two Pence (with Prince of Wales badge), and One Pence (with badge of Henry VIII). Each features the Raphael Maklouf portrait of Her Majesty the Queen on the obverse which is the third official effigy used. These coins are comprised of the same metal alloys as those found in general circulation, but struck to a higher proof standard. This means they have a much higher quality finish which is achieved through multiple strikes of hand finished dies. The coins are all presented in a clear acrylic case with both sides visible to allow you to view your coins without damaging the quality finish. They are presented in a red leather case which can be used to display them. You may notice some toning on these sets, this is typical for coins which have were issued several decades ago.
