1818 George III Silver Crown 'LIX'

1819 George III Silver Crown LIX Obverse

* Images are of the actual product not stock images

A collectable silver Crown of king George the Third, dated 1818 with the regnal year - ‘LIX’ - in raised roman numerals to the edge. The obverse features the large laureate bust of the king, facing right with the date and engravers name - ‘PISTRUCCI’ - below. The reverse shows the same artist’s famous Saint George on horse back, slaying a dragon underfoot, all within a buckled garter. Lettering in the garter translates to ‘shame on him who thinks evil of it’. Benedetto Pistrucci’s name again appears on the ground beneath the horse as he’s responsible for both sides of this attractive piece. These George III silver Crowns with a low mintage of under 670k are becoming scarce in high grades. In our opinion they are undervalued at present so now’s a great time to snap them up. Spink 3787.
