Buy Guinea James II (1685-1688) Coins

King James II was born in 1633, the second son of Charles I and Henrietta Maria. He became king in 1685 at the age of 51, after the death of his brother, King Charles II. James had a number of conflicts with Parliament, mainly surrounding religion – he was Catholic and attempted to reconvert the country back to Catholicism. After the birth of his son, James Francis Edward, the country was so worried that the baby would become the next Catholic king that a group of nobles appealed to James's Protestant daughter and son-in-law, Mary and William, to invade. When they did, King James II was forced to flee to France, leaving the throne for Mary and William.
