Buy a 1688 James II Gold Full Guinea

A collectable gold full Guinea of King James II, dated 1688. The obverse features the second laureate bust of James the Second, facing left, engraved by John Roettier. The reverse shows the crowned cruciform shields of arms representing England, Scotland, Ireland and France, with sceptres in the angles and a plain centre. This guinea was issued in the final year of James’ reign: he was deposed in the Glorious Revolution of November 1688 and died in exile. Guineas were so named because the gold used in their production was initially sourced from Guinea, West Africa.
