Gold Sovereign struck on 2 June 2018, the day that marked 65 years since Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. Her Majesty was crowned on this date in 1953 and became the first British monarch to celebrate this remarkable anniversary. Like proof Sovereigns issued in the same year, this BU coin features a tiny crown privy mark to the reverse, below the image of St George and the dragon and to the left of the date. The obverse shows Jody Clark's fifth and final coinage portrait of Elizabeth II. Struck with a brilliant uncirculated finish, this 'Struck On The Day' coin is from a limited issue of just 650, making it one of the lowest mintage modern Sovereigns available from the UK's national mint. We are offering this coin in its original box with a hand-signed COA enclosed.

The obverse of 2018 Sovereigns features Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with a legend around that reads 'ELIZABETH · II · DEI · GRA REGINA · FID · DEF'.
This coin has a reverse that shows the classic St George and the dragon design, created by Benedetto Pistrucci with the date (2018) below and a tiny crown privy mark to the left.
Brilliant uncirculated 'Struck On The Day' Sovereigns are minted to the same specifications as other 'full' Sovereigns from The Royal Mint. They are minted in 7.98 grams of 22-carat gold on a flan that measures 22.05 millimetres.
Just 650 of these 65th Coronation Anniversary gold Sovereigns were issued by The Royal Mint, making them one of the scarcest SOTD Sovereigns and one of the lowest mintage modern 'full' Sovereigns in general. We are supplying this pre-owned example in the original case of issue with a numbered and hand-signed certificate of authenticity inside.
