22-carat gold proof Royal Mint Five Pound coin issued to mark 65 years since Her Majesty the Queen's coronation. Elizabeth II became Queen at the age of 25 following the passing of her father, King George VI in February 1952. Her coronation took place the following year at Westminster Abbey, watched by millions of television viewers around the world. 65 years on the UK's national mint celebrated a remarkable anniversary with a range of limited edition coinage, including this premium gold proof Crown. This collector's piece features Jody Clark's portrait of The Queen, the fifth such effigy used on her money over her long reign. The reverse is the work of Royal Mint graphic designer Stephen Taylor and shows the coat of arms of the United Kingdom, surrounded by a wreath of laurels and oak with the royal cypher above. The legend around reads 'SAPPHIRE ANNIVERSARY' with the dates below: 1953-2018. This £5 coin is from a limited edition presentation of just 550 pieces and is struck in 39.94 grams of 916.7 gold. It measures 38.61 millimetres from inscribed edge to inscribed edge (the text reads: 'SHINE THROUGH THE AGES'.
