COA #2! Official 24-carat gold proof 5oz coin issued to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee. This remarkable coin with a face value of £10 was issued by The Royal Mint in 2012 and features two unique designs, used only on coinage from this exclusive collection. One side features a one-off portrait of Her Majesty by Ian Rank-Broadley, better known for his fourth definitive coinage effigy. In this engraving, The Queen is shown in her garter robes wearing Queen Mary's Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The reverse, also by Rank-Broadley, shows Elizabeth enthroned. This image was inspired by Great Seals used by British monarchs and bears a similarity to the design of historic hammered gold Sovereigns. The legend around the edge of the reverse reads 'DILECTA REGNO' which means 'I reign beloved'. These two unique engravings are struck to proof standard on this 156.30 grams of 9999 fine gold (that's five troy ounces of pure gold). This pre-owned large gold coin comes in its original presentation case and packaging with a numbered certificate of authenticity enclosed: the second issued! The COA indicates that the LEP for this coin was 250 but Spink suggests that as few as 140 were struck. A wide range of collectable coins were issued to mark the 60th year of Her Majesty's reign but this is undoubtedly one of the stand-out pieces struck by The Royal Mint in this year.
