This collectors' set is a rare collaboration between The Royal Mint and the Royal Mail and features a:
2001 gold Sovereigns feature the classic Saint George and the dragon reverse design, paired with Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This bullion coin is struck to standard specifications in 7.98 grams of 22-carat gold.
The design of the 24-carat gilded sterling silver ingot in this set was inspired by a 1951 Festival High Value 10s stamp, designed by Percy Metcalfe and incorporating a Saint George motif and a portrait of King George VI. The stamp measures 43mm by 27mm and is hallmarked to the reverse.
Just 1,000 of these commemorative sets were authorised for distribution worldwide. This pre-owned example comes in the original box with an information booklet. Please note that neither the coin nor the ingot is encapsulated and may show signs of age-related toning.
