1916 George V Gold Full Sovereign

1916 George V Sovereign Reverse

* Images are of the actual product not stock images

from
£525.00
A collectable gold full sovereign of King George the Fifth, dated 1916. The obverse features the bare-headed, left-facing portrait of George V, engraved by Australian sculptor, Bertram MacKennal. The reverse shows Benedetto Pistrucci’s famous Saint George design, wherein the mounted saint delivers the killing blow to a wounded dragon. The lack of mint mark indicates that this coin was struck at The Royal Mint in London, rather than at one of the colonial branch mints. George V sovereigns dated 1916 are somewhat harder to find than others in the series, particularly in this grade.
