This brilliant uncirculated 2017 Five Pound Crown coin celebrates 100 years since the creation of a new royal dynasty. After three years of war with Germany, it was becoming increasingly apparent that the royal family's name of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was inappropriate. Therefore, in 1917, King George V and his advisors made the decision to change the royal family's name to the very British 'Windsor', beginning a new chapter in British royal history. Over the first hundred years of Windsor reign, the family endured several familial, political, national, and international challenges, from the Second World War, to the Easter Rising, and from the Great Depression to Edward VIII's abdication. The third Windsor monarch, King George VI was an unexpected monarch but became a popular one. His daughter, Elizabeth, has become the longest-reigning monarch in UK history, ruling for 71 years. With Charles III as king and Prince William and Prince George making up the next two generations of Windsor monarchs, the dynasty will likely continue for another century or more. On the reverse of this collectable £5, one can see Timothy Noad's interpretation of the Royal Badge of Windsor. The badge itself depicts the Round Tower of Windsor Castle, flying the Royal Standard. It is surrounded by two oak branches and crowned with the Imperial Crown. Noad's design is paired with Jody Clark's official effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. Specifications of this pre-owned cupro-nickel piece are a weight of 28.28 grams and a diameter of 38.61 millimetres. Included is an informative coin folder with details about the House of Windsor and how it came to be in the First World War.
