This collectors set, issued to mark the 125th anniversary of The Perth Mint, which opened in 1899, features three premium coins:
The obverse of the coins in this set features the official international coinage portrait of King Charles III, created by Dan Thorne. The legend reads 'CHARLES III AUSTRALIA' with the denomination below.
A new interpretation of the legend of Saint George and the dragon can be seen on the reverse of the three coins in this 2024 set, designed by Jennifer McKenna. 'AUSTRLIA' appears above with the date (2024) below and a tiny 'P125' mintmark near the dragon to commeorate 125 years of the Perth Mint.
Sovereigns produced by The Perth Mint are made of solid 22-carat gold and conform to the same specifications as a standard UK gold Sovereigns, Half Sovereigns and Quarter Sovereigns. These pieces boast a fine proof finish and are legal tender in Australia.
