Two-ounce silver proof Allied Leaders Waterloo Medal coin: the latest issue in The Royal Mint's Great Engravers collection. This eagerly anticipated coin is the first of a two-part release and features the obverse of Benedetto Pistrucci's famed medal, regarded by some as the most beautiful ever designed in England. Struck in 999 silver, this 2024 coin shows a complicated allegorical design centred on the four allied leaders who joined forces to defeat Napoleon Bonaparte at the 1815 Battle of Waterloo: George, Prince Regent, later King George IV, Emperor Francis I of Austria, Tsar Alexander I of Russia and King Frederick William III of Prussia. The other side of the famous commemorative medal is due to be struck on a 2025-dated coin. This official Royal Mint 2oz coin is from a limited edition of 2,950 and is offered in its original packaging with a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Commissioned in the aftermath of the 1815 Battle of Waterloo, this monumental medal took Benedetto Pistrucci decades to complete and was never struck in his lifetime. The original dies show a detailed, symbolic design that alludes to the Napoleonic Wars and lionises the allied leaders and generals.
