2020 Second World War Two Making Peace Five Ounce Silver Proof Coin

UK20EW5S 2020 End Of The Second World War 5oz Silver Proof Boxed
Large silver proof Royal Mint £10 coin commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. In Europe, hostilities ceased in May 1945, the news resulting in widespread celebration across Allied nations. We remember this day as VE Day in the UK and mark the occasion on 7 May annually. The war in Asia would continue until the surrender of Japan on 2 September (VJ Day). This moving coin is from of a collection of UK coinage, created in collaboration with the Imperial War Museums: UK museums that share the story of British conflict. This collectible coin features a minimal reverse design created by Matt Dent and Christian Davies with the words ‘WAR’ and ‘PEACE’ interlinked on a stone-effect background, reminiscent of a war memorial. It’s a simple but moving motif. The obverse shows Jody Clark’s portrait of Her Majesty the Queen, along with the face value: £10 / Ten Pounds. This coin is struck in 156.30 grams of .999 fine silver to The Royal Mint’s finest proof standard. It measures 65.00 millimetres in diameter, allowing you to appreciate the fine lettering of the design as the artists intended. One of just 275 issued, it comes in its original presentation packaging with a certificate of authenticity included, the coin itself protected by a capsule.
