On 27 November 2017, His Royal Highness Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement to the world. After much anticipation, on Saturday 19 May 2018, the happy couple wed in a ceremony live broadcast to the world. To mark this occasion, The Royal Mint released this silver proof piedfort Two Pound coin. Both sides were designed by Royal Mint engraver, Jody Clark. The obverse features Clark’s fifth and current portrait of Prince Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse shows a double portrait of Prince Harry with his new bride, Meghan Markle. For this special occasion, a limited edition presentation of 1,353 coins were offered, at a weight of 56.56 grams of .925 sterling silver. This Five Pound coin is offered in its original packaging from The Royal Mint with its certificate of authenticity enclosed.
