Highly collectable 2017 5oz silver proof Lion of England coin from The Royal Mint's sought-after Queen's Beasts collection.
When this £10 coin was issued, no one could have known how popular the Queen's Beasts series would become. This ten-part collection, crowned with a completer coin, is a celebration of Queen Elizabeth II's royal and noble lineage through the heraldic beasts used in her ancestors' heraldry.

Jody Clark designed the image of the Lion of England that appears on the reverse of this coin, which shows a crowned lion roaring over a shield of arms with the year - '2017' - above and 'LION OF ENGLAND' below.
The obverse used for Lion of England coins is also the work of Jody Clark. His fifth and final coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was used from 2015 to 2022. The legend reads 'ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 10 POUNDS ·'.
Five-ounce coins are struck in 156.30 grams of 999 fine silver and have a face value of Ten Pounds. These 2017 coins are struck with a premium proof finish, which is achieved with multiple strikes of hand-finished dies.
The Royal Mint authorised the release of 1,500 of these, but records indicate that less than half of these - 677 - were actually issued, making this a notably low mintage issue in the popular Queen's Beasts series.
This pre-owned five-ounce silver proof coin is supplied in the original packaging from The Royal Mint, which comprises a box, a glossy black pop-up display case, an individual capsule and a certificate of authenticity.
