2014 marked the centenary year of the First World War. In honour of those that lost their lives, The Royal Mint issued this silver proof Five Pound coin in collaboration with the issuing authority of Alderney and the Imperial War Museum. This moving piece features a coloured design to the reverse, containing seven poppies, designed by Laura Clancy. The obverse shows the fourth official portrait of Her Majesty the Queen, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The maximum coin mintage for this piece is a specially chosen 2,014. Each piece is struck in 28.28 grams of .925 sterling silver. Offered in its original packaging with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
