An unusual fractional Britannia collection from 2013. This two-coin silver proof set includes a 1/10oz and 1/20oz Britannia, which, at the time, were the smallest pieces in this flagship range from The Royal Mint. These small coins are denominated at 20p and 10p respectively, and both feature Robert Hunt's popular 2013 Britannia reverse. Hunt's design shows Britannia seated in classical attire, her trident in one hand and an owl on her knee. The owl is a symbol of wisdom, associated with the Greek goddess Athena. It's a distinctive motif, used only on 2013 Britannias. The tenth-ounce and twentieth-ounce coins are both made from 999 fine silver and supplied in individual capsules inside the original black presentation case. A certificate of authenticity is enclosed.

This silver proof Britannia set from The Royal Mint includes two fractional coins:
Robert Hunt designed the reverse used on the 2013 proof Britannias, which shows Britannia seated with an owl in her lap and a trident in her hand. The word 'BRITANNIA' is shown above with the composition and date below.
The obverse of each of the coins in this set features Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, together with an inscription which reads 'ELIZABETH · II · D · G · REG · FID · DEF ·' with the face value below.
From 2012 onwards, silver Britannias have been made from 999 fine silver, replacing the 958 silver used for earlier issues. The two proof coins in this set cumulatively weigh around 4.73 grams and are both UK legal tender.
As far as we are aware, these 1/10oz and 1/20oz two-coin sets were only issued in 2013, making them an important collector's piece. Our pre-owned examples are supplied with all the original packaging, including an un-numbered COA.
