In 1660 King Charles II returned from exile, ending the interregnum period and restoring the Stuart monarchy in England, Scotland and Ireland. 350 years on in 2010, The Royal Mint marked the anniversary of this momentous moment in British history with a collection of commemorative Crown coins. Each piece featured a specially designed reverse showing a royal crown over tied sprigs of oak leaves, thistles and daffodils. The design, which also features the interlinked double C monogram that featured on Charles’ coinage, is the work of David Cornell. This is paired with Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in use on British coinage between 1998 and 2015. Struck to proof standard in 28.28 grams of .925 sterling silver, this coin has a face value of Five Pounds. Its offered in its original presentation packaging from The Royal Mint with a numbered certificate of authenticity. This piece is from a limited issue of 5,277 coins.
