Exceptional thirteen-coin silver proof sets, struck by The Royal Mint to celebrate the year 2000. A set of this size was last issued in 1937 and has not been replicated in silver since these ones were released in their distinctive blue velvet cases. Presented in protective capsules, the coins comprise a 2000-dated Millennium £5 Crown with selective gold plated detail and a 'Technology' £2. The old-style round £1 features the Welsh Dragon. The 50p, 20p, 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p all bear standard definitive designs in use in this year with Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to the obverse. The four Maundy Money pieces feature the classic wreath reverse, paired with the first youthful portrait of Her Majesty by Mary Gillick. All of the coins in this set are struck in .925 sterling silver with a fine proof finish, achieved with multiple strikes of hand-prepared dies. The original certificate of authenticity booklet is included, of which only 13,180 were issued.
