This silver proof coin celebrates Her Majesty the Queen’s golden wedding anniversary. Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip married on 20 November 1947. Celebrations for their fiftieth anniversary included a service at Westminster Abbey, a lunch at the Guildhall, a Gala Concert at the Royal Festival Hall and a Ball at Windsor Castle. The obverse of this Five Pound features a remarkable double portrait of Elizabeth and Phillip, designed by Phillip Nathan. The reverse - designed by Leslie Durbin - shows a pair of shields featuring the royal arms and the arms of the Duke of Edinburgh with a crown above and an anchor below. Their anniversary dates appear below. This coin is one of 33,689 struck for the occasion in 28.28 grams of .925 sterling silver.
