1904 Threepence, struck in the year that saw the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War and the start of construction on the Panama Canal.
From 1904 onwards, the style of the '3' on the reverse of currency Threepences was modified, with the shape of the tail appearing slightly more bulbous. This classic design is paired with George William de Saulles' classic uncrowned portrait of King Edward VII, seen on the obverse.
