Collectors can expect bullion coins, limited-edition proof issues, sets and a new platinum Sovereign - all due for release in late 2026.

The Royal Mint has not yet publicly confirmed an exact release date for the 2027 Sovereign range. Based on previous years, the 2027 Sovereign is expected to launch in late 2026. Usually, proof Sovereigns are released first, followed by bullion Sovereigns.

The Royal Mint hasn't confirmed the design yet. We expect Pistrucci's Saint George and the Dragon on the reverse, paired with Martin Jennings' King Charles III portrait, as used since 2022. Upcoming Platinum Sovereigns are confirmed to feature both of these designs.

The Royal Mint confirmed in 2024 that all Sovereigns from 2026 onwards will be struck in yellow gold, replacing the rose gold alloy used since 2000. Gold Sovereigns are still made from 22-carat (91.67%) gold, but the proportions of silver and copper in the alloy have been updated.
