2014 marked the 300th anniversary of the death of Queen Anne, an enduring monarch whose reign was marked by a selection of much-loved coinage. The Royal Mint struck this fully gold-plated Five Pound Crown to remember the Queen in a special commemoration. The choice to apply a layer of .999 gold to this sterling silver Crown reflects the coinage of Queen Anne and speaks to the baroque style of the time. A modern Queen, Elizabeth II, is presented on the obverse as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. Anne herself is depicted on the reverse of this 28.28-gram silver-base coin, framed in a contemporary style. The Royal Mint presented only 1,665 of these editions to fans of UK royal history. This pre-owned example includes the presentation box and booklets.

Elizabeth II Obverse Effigy

Elizabeth II, a distant relative of Queen Anne, is featured on the obverse of this royal-centric Crown coin. Ian Rank-Broadley's design is encircled by the legend: 'ELIZABETH II ·  D ·  G ·  REG ·  F ·  D ·  FIVE POUNDS · 2014'.

Queen Anne 300th Anniversary Reverse

Reverse designer Mark Richards presents the first Queen of Great Britain and the Great Britain to which she served as monarch. An effigy of Anne is found within a grand baroque frame. Her life is bookended in the above inscription: 'QUEEN ANNE DEI GRATIA 1665-1714'. A portion of this legend is similar to many examples of Anne's contemporary coinage, such as the Pattern Guinea.

A Gold Plated Queen Anne Crown

Most notably, the Queen Anne £5 is fully plated in .999 fine gold for an incredible finish. The underlying alloy is .925 sterling silver, of which 28.28 grams is used to strike the coin. This Queen Anne 300th Anniversary Five Pound coin holds a proof standard.

Limited Edition Pre-Owned Coin

This gold-plated Five Pound coin is one of only 1,665 to be presented by The Royal Mint, a figure which mirrors her birth year. Yours includes the richly decorated display box, inner case, coin, certificate, and Queen Anne booklet.
