Buy a 1937 Proof Threepence (Silver)

1937 silver proof UK Threepence, struck in the year of King George VI's Coronation as part of a low mintage of 26,402 coins.

These proof coins were originally issued as part of 1937 Proof Sets, made to celebrate the introduction of the new monarch's coinage. Also included in these Royal Mint specimen sets were examples of the new 1937 Brass Proof Threepence, which would eventually surplant the 50% silver coin.

  • 1937 silver proof Threepences feature Humphrey Paget's first effigy of George VI on the obverse
  • With George Kruger Gray's Tudor rose reverse, used exclusively during this reign
