What Are Wreath Crowns?
'Wreath' Crowns get their name from their distinctive reverse design. These highly collectable silver coins were produced in limited numbers between 1927 and 1936 as holiday gifts to important clients of the Bank of England, leading to their other common name: 'Christmas' Crowns.

The initials of Australian sculptor and medallist Bertram Mackennal appear on the portrait of King George V that graces the obverse of 1934 Crown, surrounded by a legend that reads 'GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX'.
Reverse Of 1934 Wreath Crown
A distinctive wreath of shamrocks, thistles and roses is the defining feature of this rare 1934 coin which has a crown in the centre of the reverse with the words 'FID · · DEF · · IND · · IMP' above and 'CROWN' below. This design is the work of English artist George Kruger Gray.

1934 Crown coins were struck in 28.28 grams of 50% silver as was typical of British coins in this period. Like earlier milled Crowns, the 1934 Wreath Crown measures 38.6 millimetres in diameter.
