Low mintage 1932 silver 'Wreath' Crown from the reign of King George V (S 4036, ESC 372, Bull 3641). This is one of just 2,395 Crown coins struck by The Royal Mint as Christmas gifts for VIP clients of the Bank of England. Designed as a commemorative coin, these pieces get their name from the distinctive wreath design on their reverse. This is the work of English artist George Kruger Gray and shows a ring of shamrocks, thistles and roses around a central crown with 'FID · · DEF · · IND · · IMP' above. Kruger Gray's engraving is paired with Bertram Mackennal's classic coinage portrait of George V, which is surrounded by a legend which reads 'GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX'. These are 50% silver coins and can be difficult to find in high grade. This 1931 Crown has been graded Very Fine by our numismatic specialists and is ready to add to your collection.
