This Halfcrown features the elegant Widowed Head portrait of Queen Victoria on the obverse, wearing a long veil in a nod to her perpetual state of mourning following the death of Prince Albert. The work of Sir Thomas Brock, this effigy was used on coins in the last years of Victoria's reign.
