Buy a 1892 Halfcrown

Queen Victoria Jubilee Head silver Halfcrown, dated 1892. This is the final British Halfcrown to feature the controversial Jubilee Head portrait of Victoria, introduced in 1887 and designed by Joseph Edgar Boehm. The following year, Halfcrowns would be struck with a new effigy by Sir Thomas Brock. While contemporary commentators did not like the Jubilee Head, it is a favourite with many collectors, who appreciate the fine detail of the design, which is displayed to great effect on this larger silver coin. The reverse displays a similarly intricate shield and garter motif by Leonard Charles Wyon. 1,710,946 Halfcrowns were minted in 1892, and these coins remain a key addition to any serious date run of UK Halfcrowns.
