Buy a 1821 Crown SECUNDO

A collectable silver Crown of king George the Fourth, dated 1821. Both sides of this coin are the work of Benedetto Pistrucci. The obverse features the laureate head of king George IV, facing left, while the reverse shows Pistrucci’s instantly recognisable mounted Saint George motif with a dragon underfoot at sword point. Tiny ‘WWP’ and ‘’B.P’ below for the artist and the then Master of the Royal Mint, William Wellesley-Pole. The edge shows the raised regnal year of ‘SECUNDO'. These crowns have a low mintage of just under 438,000 are getting scarcer in good grades with lots of low grade examples ending up in the melt pot. In our view they’re relatively undervalued at present. Spink 3805.
Grade: Grade: AVF - A medium grey tone with some colour approaching Very Fine
