These Shillings were reportedly struck from silver captured from the Spanish, originally mined in Peru, hence the 'LIMA' inscription. The specie was presented to the Royal Mint and the lettering added to some 1746 and 1746 British silver and gold coins as a form of propaganda.

  • The old laureate head of the King George II is shown on the obverse with 'GEORGIUS · II · DEI · GRATIA ·'
  • These historic LIMA Coins showcrowned cruciform shields of royal arms on the reverse
